BRYN...a 1 - 1 1/2yo Great Dane mix...about 85#s. She was saved in San Antonio, TX. She was found near a railroad track with a broken leg. The train didn't do it but that's as far as she drug herself after likely being hit by a car:( Pet Central had her surgery done at Callahan Vet Hospital. It was necessary to cut the head off the femur bone (her left hip) and then suspend the leg and give it enough time for the head to grow back... about 6 mos. (She was given an Orthopedic bed to recover on... :) Well, it's time...she is doing great. She still favors it and probably will for a few more months but she still runs and plays. One thing she doesn't do is jump the fence...:)) She is a fantastic dog...loving, playful, smart...a GREAT dog! She reminds me so much of the dog 'Marmaduke.' (Did you see the movie or the cartoon in the newspaper.?) She definitely has the Great Dane personality. You just have to give her a big hug...and you don't have to bend over very far!!! She is coming to the NW soon but you can pre adopt her NOW. Ask us how that works. We have a 5 day trial period so please inquire about that! Heads up large-dog lovers. The adoption fee doesn't even begin to cover the costs of her surgery. It only helps with transport costs, health certificate, vaccinations, heart worm prevention and flea/tick control and maybe some food to care for her these several months in TX prior to her arrival in the NW. Her surgery bill was totally absorbed by the rescue.
