About Patsy

American Staffordshire Terrier
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

Patsy's Story: My husband and I were walking our dogs when Patsy (we named her that) came out of nowhere and ran up to our dogs. After weeks of extensive search for a possible owner (while Patsy was in boarding) no one came forward to claim this girl. In the meantime, she got fully vetted (vaccinated, spayed and fixed the enlarged uterus she was suffering form being over bred, microchipped and the hookworms were taken care of). Patsy needed some behavioral help. We have 3 dogs and we could not offer Patsy a home and training she needed. I've contacted dozens of rescue organizations with no luck. Then her time in boarding was coming to an end. I got a call stating that I need to get her out by a certain date. I got frantic. More emails to rescue organizations and posts to Facebook pages. Only this time I had no other choice but to be brutally honest and say that if I don't get help for this girl, I'd rather take her to my vet to have her leave this universe with kindness and dignity while I'd be hugging her and singing to her, than drop her off at a county shelter fully knowing she stands no chance of making it out alive. Few days later, I heard from a wonderful lady who runs a rescue out of Westbury and she said that they could possibly help. With enough funds, we were able to get patsy into WestburyCARE train and board program. Patsy went thru 8 weeks of that program and graduated with all A's. She's now a social dog who does very well with other dogs (not so much with overly obnoxious ones, she just doesn't know what to do with them). And we couldn't be happier! She's such a wonderful dog who just needed some direction with her canine buddies. She's never ever had any issues with humans. From the minute we found her, we were able to handle her (touch her feet, kindly push her head in to a crate while taking her to get vetted or walks, kiss her face, receiving bunch of kisses back, rub her belly, etc). Not a shred of aggression or discomfort around humans. She also did great around a 6 year old while she was in boarding. Her trainer gave Patsy her Diploma and said she is ready for a foster or an adopter. If you are willing to open up your heart and your home to this sweet girl please email [email protected] or pm me. Thank you!
