Meet Tucker Our Bassador, Tucker, needs out! After spending his first 3.5 years with his brother and owner in the safety of a quiet home, Tucker is having a hard time adjusting to shelter life. Tucker, along with his brother, were surrendered on April 17, 2018 when their owner could no longer care for the boys. His brother was rather quickly adopted, but Tucker struggles to be noticed and gain any interest. Tucker is a gem of a little dog, but he suffers from black dog syndrome and short legs - the combination of which make him nearly invisible to potential families. That no one comes for Tucker is not lost on him'|every day and every night Tucker sits alone in his kennel saddened and dejected that no one comes for him. But we want to share with you a little secret - Tucker is AWESOME! Here's what we know and love about Tucker'| Tucker is a four year old 'Bassador' or Bassett Hound /Labrador mix. He's 47 pounds of big beautiful dog on short legs. Tucker has been going on walks with shelter volunteers, who all say how wonderful he is on a leash. He loves walking and doesn't pull, except maybe when he sees a squirrel and who doesn't go a little nuts when they see a squirrel?! But everything else goes right by him without a care - cars, bikes, loud noises, etc., but he loves meeting people and gives them a friendly wag and greeting. And, he loves car rides and rides perfectly. Tucker is an amiable dog that loves to snuggle and give doggie kisses and a good old belly rub is his favorite thing. Tucker would be a perfect companion for someone looking for a lower energy boy, with impeccable manners. He was house-trained when he came into the shelter and with a little retraining we expect he'll be perfect again. He's very smart. Tucker doesn't care for cats and he's selective about which dogs he likes. Lately he's been walking with another shelter mate named Minnie and that works very well. Tucker would love nothing better than a home and family of his own. A shelter is no place for a quiet boy like Tucker. Come meet our Tucker and see for yourself why we love him so much. Call 706-865-4135 for information on additional health services provided as part of the adoption fee.
