Marco Polo, eat your heart out! For it is I, Just Plain Marco, the greatest adventurer known to man! I traveled all the way from the far reaches of the Lyndhurst shelter to meet with you, dear reader, and make an alliance to top all dog-human alliances. After many hours of navigating by starlight and traveling on my faithful steed (okay, okay, my foster mom's SUV), I have arrived so that you might adopt me and we can explore the world together. Okay, so real talk. The reason I'm so ready to get adopted and see the world is that I'm looking for a loving home where I can begin again. I was pulled from my previous owner because I was severely neglected and ignored. I'm only around eight months old and I could really use a buddy to help me grow and find the right path in life. Already have a dog at home? That's great! I love other dogs! I'm still learning how to play respectfully, but I'm getting pretty good at taking hints. I'd also make a great role model for your kids. Just remember, I'm still very young and I haven't quite let go of my playful puppy nipping habit, so older kids might be a better fit. I'm making great progress on house training and crate training, but you will need to continue guiding me so that I can be a good fit for your family. Leash training has been a bit of a challenge for me, but I'm very smart and eager to please, so I'm sure I can do a good job with you as my mentor. If all of this is sounding like a lot of work, I want you to scroll up, look at my gorgeous winged eyeliner and my stout little body, and see if you can even begin to resist me. I'm worth the effort, friend, and I'll gladly repay you in snuggles and kisses. If you're looking for a dog you can mold into precisely what you want in a family member, a jogging buddy, a hiking buddy, or a pal for your dog to play with in the backyard, you are destined to meet me, Marco! Augusta Dog Adoptions is an all- volunteer, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and hold adoption events at Petsmart in Waynesboro, VA (821 Town Center Drive Waynesboro, VA 22980) every Saturday. A $175.00 adoption fee ($200 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries.
