Bella is a dignified middle aged Chiweenie (Chihuahua/Dachshund mix) that deserves far better then being turned into a high kill shelter because her mom has passed away. Her family felt they had no choice around Bella's future when told they would be evicted within the month. Bella is a very loving, low maintenance (completely house trained) and SO sweet girl who just wants to snuggle and be a best friend to an individual or family that desires this pure love in their lives. Bella is 6.5 years old and just about 15 lbs. Sweet Bella is undeniably overweight (her mom felt that the more there is the more there is to love)...through great nutrition and proper exercise and play, Bella can be at her perfect weight of about 12 - 13 lbs. Bella will be such a perfect companion for anyone who is searching for that very sweet lap dog. She will be by your side to hug and love on...these are always the most important things to Bella! She's a small pup and so portable and well-behaved that she can be a full-time best friend...accompanying her guardians everywhere a sweet and very lovable dog is allowed. It's always amazing to us at Farfel's Rescue that these dogs with very sweet and engaging temperaments (and as dignified as Bella) end up in precarious situations. Bella was a last-minute save for us...she would have been relinquished into a dismal urban shelter if family members hadn't stepped up. But how could they not have? This sweetheart (with no medical challenges) is just so awesome with many, many healthy years ahead l(smaller breeds, with great nutrition and lots of love can live to very ripe old ages) ...a life in which she can bring so much joy to a special family. Bella may be a bit shy initially as rehoming is challenging for any dog...but with love and nurturing, she will absolutely shine. We envision Bella with either retirees (she would be overjoyed with time spent and being at the center of a loving family) or a younger family who works at home or would be able to take Bella to a dog-friendly workplace or doggie daycare. A like-sized canine or feline friend would be great as well. Bella would enjoy the companionship and cuddle times with a furry best friend. For those family members who enjoy walks and time outside along beautiful Colorado paths ...Bella would love nothing more than to share the experience. Her mom had loved daily neighborhood walks and Bella would come along. She is always up for these daily walks and we know she misses them. And then after an active day and maybe Bella's favorite part...it's time to end the day with hugs, belly rubs and a warm spot on the bed close beside her beloved family members. As a Chiweenie, Bella is a lightly shedding dog. As is evident in her photos, Bella's coat has had some care and grooming. She also appears to have been taken care of medically and is current on all vaccinations. Any family interested in adopting Bella will need to commit to coat care. She will require periodic sudsy baths and great nutrition (a daily salmon oil supplement with premium food is important for coat care and longevity) to keep her hair cottony- soft, healthy and shining.
