We promised you an update on Louie once the foster home had him for a while - and here it is: Louie is an 18 month old Golden Retriever - probably mixed with Great Pyrenees. His foster home says he is completely housebroken and is a major lover. He seems to only want to go potty if he has first been on a walk - he loves LONG walks - not just a quick trip - so he needs an active owner who will walk him several times a day. He does very well on a leash. When he first went to the foster home he had taken out his neuter stitches and had to get medical attention for that but all is well now. He also had a slight cold and that too is all better. He apparently had never lived where there were steps as he had to learn how to use those. He is great with kids and he does good playing with other dogs at the dog park. His recall is excellent if you know how to whistle. He would do fine in a home with one other dog but more than that would probably not afford him the attention he so desperately wants and needs. He does not appear to be cat friendly and on his walks if he sees a cat you need to hang on tight. His foster mom reports that he does have some separation anxiety and will sit at the door and cry when you leave him so a home where someone works from home or a home where people work opposite shifts would be best for him. He isn't destructive when left alone but is not one bit happy about it. He loves to be near a human and always wants to be in whatever room his human is in. So we would call him a 'velcro dog'. We will start reviewing applications on him in the next day or so and hopefully by this weekend will have found a good home for him. His adoption fee is $250.00. If you have not already done so but are interested in Louie please go to our website at www.patriotsforpets.com and complete an adoption application. He isn't a huge dog at under 60 lbs but remember he has lots of coat and will shed. If you have any questions please ask them below and either PFP or Terri (his foster mom) will be happy to respond.
