About CHEESE

Adoption Fee: $300
American Staffordshire Terrier / Rottweiler
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

Sometimes people are faced with the grueling decision to surrender a pet. It's not always because they don't love them. There are times when people are doing a selfless thing even though its a struggle to let go. Cheese is one of those pups. Her family made a very hard decision to surrender her back to our rescue. The first pet at home has become very aggressive towards Cheese. Well what about separating and rotating you may ask? That in itself is a very big commitment with NO room for error. In addition too having toddlers at home and a baby on the way can be challenging in itself. Although they are heartbroken they feel Cheese deserves much more then what they can give her at this time. With having small children at home they are worried if their senior continue's to go after Cheese they are putting their children at risk. Make no mistake however Cheese loves kids. She can get excited with one to many kisses and jotting down the steps quickly, kids who are not toddlers would be a better fit. This past weekend Cheese's family dropped her off at our facility. A message came in a few hours later by Cheese's prior family expressing deep sadness. They said this was the hardest thing they ever had to do. They just want to see her in a home again. Cheese is a family pet. She needs a home . She did not understand why her family left her. Cheese is an ACC survivor at 6.5 years old. She is an incredible family dog who's filled with so much love and loyalty. Cheese was trained professionally. Her trainer is willing to speak to anyone interested in her to go over what she has learned. Cheese has never been aggressive with people. She is a strong girl and one of her best attributes is she loves to give kisses! Cheese would do best in a home with dogs who are similar in size and a kind temperament like her. (No smalls animals or small dogs as per her trainer). Some of Cheese's favorite things to do is play with her kong balls, she is quite the soccer player and she enjoys swimming as well. Loves fetch sometimes she hogs the ball and doesn't want to give it up. She loves getting belly rubs and purr's like a kitten. She is good with ignoring other dogs on walks. She will bark back if a dog is barking at her. She can jump very high fencing 5 feet or higher would be best. Cheese is not a fan of crates, but well behaved enough to be left in a room with a doggie bed and her toys. She will snooze and relax. She loves going to get a pupa chino at star bucks too!. It's been a hard week knowing she lost her family. We hope someone will offer her a new start with a new family to make a life time of new memories. Cheese is about 55-60lbs.. If you would like to foster or adopt our sweet girl please apply for her. nycsecondchancerescue.org attn Judy
