About SHEBA-1

SHEBA-1 was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas where dogs have just 3 dogs to be saved. SHEBA is spayed, core vaccines, rabies, de-wormed, heartworm tested negative, and micro-chipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 18 November 2017 and at the time of rescue at the end of September 2018 weighed around 37.00 pounds. She is listed as a Border Collie Mix. We have no way of knowing the exact breed, it is up to individuals to decide what breed they think is most likely. Sheba is a sweet, gentle, confident girl. When I am cleaning if I leave the inside gate open, she will casually walk out and strut up and down the kennels, sniffing and greeting the dogs in the other pens, almost as if she is inspecting them. She will then calmly and confidently walk to the next pen to check ou the next dog. She is very responsive, but also extremely smart. She is young and high energy girl, being a working breed she will not only need physical exercise but mental stimulation also. She is very affectionate and loving and would make a great family addition. As mentioned she is active and will need a family that can give her a good active life, suitable for her size. I have not seen her with children, but her demeanor and personality I have no doubt that she would be great with them and a lot of fun too. We do NOT have cats or livestock at the rescue so cannot comment on how she will be near or around them. She does use the dog door in the kennels and so I would suspect that she is almost house-trained. She is most likely not going to know how to let you know that she wants to go out. As with all rescue's she needs guidance and training and we recommend families go through at least the basics of training with her themselves so that boundaries, personalities and body language can be learned from each other. She is young and still active and so a family that goes on adventures is preferred. She has never shown any kind of aggression at all, as mentioned she lives, eats and sleeps with lots of other dogs and enjoys their company and so a family with another dog would be great, but if not then it is important that she gets to play and interact with other dogs throughout his life.��%BD'��%BD��%BD All dogs (except dogs saved from China) are available for adoption for an adoption fee of $550. Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed. Sebec is located just outside the towns of Dover-Foxcroft and Milo (approx 8 miles) and approx 45 miles from Bangor. There are also lots of hotels, motels, pet friendly accommodations and wonderful camp-sites for the more adventurous families and what a great way to get to know your new best friend.
