About ETHAN - bonded EVAN

Adoption Fee: $550
Basset Hound / Beagle
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

ETHAN was saved with his brother EVAN from a high kill shelter in Texas where dogs have just 3 dogs to be saved. ETHAN is neutered, core vaccines, rabies, de-wormed, heartworm tested negative, and micro-chipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 18 November 2017 and at the time of rescue at the end of September 2018 weighed around 37.00 pounds. He is listed as a Basset /Beagle mix. We have no way of knowing the exact breed, it is up to individuals to decide what breed they think is most likely. ETHAN is bonded with his brother EVAN and we are looking at finding a family who has the room in their hearts and home for both of these boys. We offering a reduced adoption fee of $1,000 for both boys. ETHAN is a laid back, happy-go-lucky boy who is happy to plod along through life taking what it has to offer. He is extremely gentle, affectionate and just has one of those sweetest personalities that you cannot resist giving him a big hug each time you see him. He and his brother are like gentle giants, but miniature giants with an old soul. They smile and wag their tails when they see you and if I leave the inside gate open whilst I am cleaning they will sneak off to explore and say hi to the other dogs. I have not yet heard him bark, but I think that is more is that he is still adjusting to all the changes that he has recently been through and I am sure his bark will come out at some point, however, I do not see him as being a dog that barks for no reason. ETHAN is young and relatively active and will need a family that can give him a good active life, suitable for his size. I have not seen him with children, but his demeanor and personality I have no doubt that he would be great with them and a lot of fun too. We do not have cats or livestock at the rescue so cannot say how he would be near or around them. As with all rescue's he needs guidance and training and we recommend families go through at least the basics of training with him themselves so that boundaries, personalities and body language can be learned from each other. He is young and still active and so a family that goes on adventures is preferred. He has never shown any kind of aggression at all, he shares a kennel with his brother and another dog Asta and all get along great. At play time he is happy to go and explore the area and does interact well with the other dogs. We do NOT recommend dog parks for several months until a bond and trust and knowing to read his body language has been gained. We do NOT have cats or livestock at the rescue so cannot comment on how he will be near or around them. He does use the dog door in the kennels and so I would suspect that he is almost house-trained. He is most likely not going to know how to let you know that he wants to go out Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed. If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this precious soul a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the APPLICATION tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. Our process takes around 2-4 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process. Please do NOT submit an application if you are not looking to take home a new best friend within the next few weeks. http://www.giveadogahome-sanantonio.org ALL Dogs are LOCATED AT THE RESCUE IN SEBEC, MAINE.
