About Roxie

Adoption Fee: $200
Jack Russell / Westie
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

Hi! I'm Roxie, a sweet girl looking for a forever home. I am 8 years old and weigh 18 lbs. I'm not sure what breed you might call me'| I have the shape and short legs of a Westie, however others believe I might be a wire-haired Jack Russell, but maybe I'm just a combination of both. I'm white in color with brown spots. A month ago, I was picked up by Animal Control and found myself in a local shelter. I was very fortunate - three ladies from Puppy Pals Rescue came to the shelter one day and my foster mom saw me. She asked if I could come out of the kennel so she could meet me. As soon as I came out of the kennel, I rolled over on my back and while petting me, she noticed that I had a few tumors on my belly. I thought I didn't have a chance - the shelter couldn't afford the money or time it would take to invest in my health. I was so surprised when they told me that I was going to Puppy Pals! Puppy Pals took me for a consult with the vet. I was given all my shots, heartworm and fecal tested, and micro-chipped. At that time, my surgery for a complete mastectomy was scheduled for August 30th. It was a major surgery and a long recovery. I'm now ready to go back to be spayed on October 2nd. I want to mention that my tumors were sent to the lab for testing and we have lab results that explain everything. What matters is that I'm tumor free and ready to live a long life. I am a happy-go-lucky girl who loves to lounge on a pillow bed and enjoy a dental chew bone. My foster mom said that I'm special and very easy to foster. I've been good at going potty outside. I'm just starting to feel like playing with a toy'| I like to see how far I can toss it in the air. After I am spayed, we hope to get more exercise as I've gained some weight due to my limited activity during recovery. We will be looking for a home that can take me on walks. My ideal home would be quiet. I'd prefer that if there are children, they be older and used to dogs. I'll be a wonderful companion and family member to the right home. Until I am adopted, I will be attending 'Meet and Greets' at the Petco in Kettering, OH, on the 2nd Saturday of each month (next one scheduled 10/13/18). If you have any questions, please contact the foster home at the link found at http://www.puppypalsrescue.com/Dogs_Roxie1869.html.
