About JADE-JJ (OREGON)

Adoption Fee: $200.00
Catahoula
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

** We ask potential adopters to go to our website and fill out (without obligation to adopt) our adopt application online. A very vital first step Jade, she is a registered NALC Catahoula/purebred. Spayed, UTD on Vaccs. She is a nice girl. All our dogs comes with baggage but this girl has come a long way. She still has a few quirks that may surface like PTSD at times but who or what doesn't have this? Life is not always easy on us as we grow up and grow on. I met this girl in person and I wish I had a spot for her here. She would fit me like a glove. We are going to be extra picky for Jade as she had a bad start and has blossomed with her foster mom. Jade is a worthy Catahoula friend. She is protective of her owner and there is nothing wrong with that. She won't lick everyone to death that comes in your door. Loyalty is her job. She does warm up to most people given time. The man in her past home, something wasn't right between them so sometimes men are a little hard for her., but she has warmed up to foster Mom's son. She has some vision deficit as she is bred MERLE TO MERLE, slight and doesn't seem to hinder her much. I would never worry about that. It happens in double merle breedings, we deal with it all the time. if she is a fit.. put in your adopt application. We want a forever home for her. Her start was very bad, skin problems etc.. but you can see by these photos.. no more. This was a dog we held off the adopt floor, for we wanted to polish on her a bit.. she polished nicely. ONE THING WE WILL STRESS HERE: Jade won't cause trouble with another dog but she is Catahoula and if another dog instigates trouble she will stand her ground. We are not going to place her in a home with another female dog as same gender sometimes does not work well. Jade. Female. 3 years old, birthdate is 3/13/15. She's up to date on vaccs ,not being treated for heartworms. (In the past was on Trifexis.) Jade is fed twice a day with Taste of the Wild High Prairie. She gets pumpkin after meals. Treats are either plain cheerios or boiled chicken breast pieces. Is fully housebroken. On a fairly open schedule as foster mom works from home most days. this helps to make a dog flexible and not demanding. HISTORY: Jade came to us as an owner surrender. She'd had one owner prior to being surrendered to JCLDR. The reasons for surrender are behavioral/anxiety issues , the past owners did not know how to deal with it. In fact their household added to her problems and meds are NOT the solution. They relied on meds instead of giving her security. GOOD: Jade is super sweet. When you walk in the house, she's at the door waiting on you. She likes to stand with her front feet up on the back of the couch, which happens to be right near fosters front door, and then she lays her head on fosters chest and looks up at her. She shakes, sits, stays, lays down, & rolls. She's learning how to find by scent. She's got great recall. Foster doesn't let her outside of the fenced back yard without a leash, however, she's been camping in the mountains and always comes when called. She is ok in a crate, typically open wire. She loves children. They make her happy. (She doesn't live with children, but whenever she is around them, she does like them and we feel children would be an added plus in Jade's life, children that are taught to respect a dog and be kind to them..) Jade does like walks (See below for more about walks). Loves to chase a ball and will keep at that for as long as you are willing to throw it. BAD: Jade is a barker, a talker. She will bark at almost any noise outside the house. She is also fearful of strangers who come to the house. She will bark quite violently for a short time until she calms and then is usually fine. She does take walks, however, not great on a leash as she is a puller. She also barks quite a lot when passing other dogs. That's not to say that she doesn't get along with other dogs, she lives with a male dog and does well with him. A nice playful happy go lucky male dog would be perfect for her fur friend. No Dog parks. she isn't comfortable when meeting strange dogs on walks. She's not great in public, due to her challenges with other dogs. She's is now less reactive with people that she meest on walks now. After adoption, she may regress a bit and revert back but will turn. If you're looking for the kind of dog that you can take everywhere with you, it is not likely to be Jade. We don't know how she would be around a cat - it would be best if the cat were totally calm. UGLY: Nothing super ugly. Jade isn't perfect but neither are we , she is a
