About ZOE-JJ (COLORADO)

Adoption Fee: $200.00
Catahoula / Belgian Malinois
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

Zoe: Malinois X Catahoula in need of new home or a committed foster. Cannot be adopted in the State of Colorado through a rescue. They are not rescue friendly rescues that do not have a State License. OUtside of Colorado she can be taken. It will mean transport and transport can be discussed. Please understand that her nervous situation with home changes can be worked on and she can become more secure. As you will see she is smart, willing, bright and more. She deserves another chance. She is in the prime of her life . I would take a committed foster but I need commitment, we don't want to bounce our dogs. I want a team player and someone that will stick like glue till we get her settled in a home that will work for her. I believe this is a beautiful dog that deserves another chance in the prime of her life. As for stealing food off counters.. many many dogs do that.. Fear of storms and fireworks is common in lots of our pet friends. Counter Surfers.. the temptation is too great. Garbage and food need to be put up. She has a few spots that need work but basically she is a nice girl. (Admin Janeen) OWNERS INPUT: Zoe, spayed female, 6 yo In hwe prime, 45 pounds Vet says healthy and fit. Up to date on vaccinations Heartworm test negative Not on Prevention Housebroken, though accidents happen when she is anxious and nervous. HISTORY: Found Zoe on PetFinder, adopted her through a rescue in September 2012 when she was approximately 7 or 8 months old. She was reportedly the runt of the litter. She was very timid but soon made friends with everyone in the house (4 kids, 2 adults and a 9 year old beagle). We have since gotten a cat, and Zoe is pretty disinterested in him even when the cat wants to play with her. Our household dynamics have changed quite a bit over the last 6 years and it is no longer the right situation for Zoe. She is a very sweet girl but we can't give her the exercise and attention she needs so that she does not get stressed. Since we got her, our kids have grown and are rarely home, we opened a business with two locations so we're rarely home, the beagle, now 15 doesn't play with her.She has a nice yard to run around in - and she loves to be outside -- but the fact of the matter is that she does not get the attention and exercise. GOOD: 'ۢ She gets along with dogs, cats and people. And she loves HER people. 'ۢ She is kennel-trained and sleeps in 'her bed' every night. 'ۢ She is good at dog parks as long as she is off-leash. On-leash, I think she feels threatened so she barks and pulls. 'ۢ She can sit, stay, sit pretty, lay down and catch a treat that is balanced on her nose. 'ۢ She is good at being walked on a leash as long as it is frequent. When it's been too long since we walked her, she'll pull for the first 5 minutes or so, but then calm down. 'ۢ She comes when called, even when we let her off-leash to run in the fields. 'ۢ She will come tell you - usually by a paw on your leg - that she wants to go out. 'ۢ She is very smart. BAD: 'ۢ She will very, very rarely chew anything. And if she does, it's usually a sock or a washcloth of all things! 'ۢ She will get into the trash if the lids aren't closed. 'ۢ She is timid around people at first, but warms up quickly. If she does remain wary of someone, it is usually a male. 'ۢ She will steal food off the counter. UGLY: 'ۢ As mentioned before, she urinates in the house when stressed - Note that she does not Urinate in the house continually. It is a nervous anxiety thing at times. 'ۢ We have had to board her twice when we traveled and she comes back a nervous wreck - shedding, panting, pacing, urinating. It takes several days for her to relax. 'ۢ She won't go outside after dark for a few days after hearing lots of fireworks. 'ۢ Thunder and hail make her pace and pant. 'ۢ She HATES getting a bath. It is a two-man job and it HAS to be warm water. But, she loves to play in the river near our house. 'ۢ She has nipped two adult male family members
