About Lucy

Adoption Fee: donation
Fox Terrier / Jack Russell
Age: Senior
Sex: Female

Here's Lucy! She is a 10 year old, white, spayed, micro-chipped, wired-hair, small Terrier mix with a bob tail, and weighs about 12 pounds. Her special markings are tiny, light gray spots on her white ears. She will be celebrating her 5th birthday in November. She might be part Jack Russell because of the bob tail and wiry hair. Lucy appears to have hearing loss and perhaps some poor vision as well. But, she has a strong scent of smell. She picks up the scent for some wildlife on walks and for peanut butter or bacon in her foster home. Lucy also tends to lick her humans. She is good on a leash and a great walking partner. She has used a crate at mealtime and she will let you know she is done after her meal. She is very vocal when crated especially at bedtime, so she sleeps with her foster humans and some of her foster canine friends at bedtime. She will relieve herself outdoors in the fenced in yard and on training pads inside the home. She gets along with all [11] of her canine friends in her foster home. Lucy is a quiet dog when her human friends are present. But she will chime in with her foster canine friends when their humans leave the home and then she settles down with the rest of them afterwards. Lucy has been good around her foster parents' 1-year-old and 3-year-old grandsons. She likes receiving attention and cuddling with her human friends. Lucy and her [11] canine friends are free to roam in the small living room and the small kitchen when at home without their humans. Lucy shows a little playfulness occasionally with some of her canine friends and human friends, but is mostly calm and quiet. Lucy needs someone who will train and help her adjust to her lifestyle with deafness and not coddle her. Hand gestures & signals, body language, and visual cues are the ways to communicate with Lucy. Lucy will do best in a home with some canine friends to help guide her, as well as, human companionship and leadership.
