About Lester

Let me introduce you to, Lester. Lester is a 40lb 2 year-old male Retriever-mix. He is neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped. He is house trained and crate-trained. He gets free-roam when his people are home. Lester's facial markings form a perfect heart that curves around his warm golden-brown eyes. And, since being rescued and fostered in a home, Lester is usually seen wearing a great big smile across his heart-shaped face. Lester is affectionate, playful and puppy-like, but at times, Lester is also fearful. When walking, Lester wears a slip-lead. And, he walks quite well, most of the time. But, if he is startled, he wants to bolt in all directions, so his person must be attuned. Lester is afraid of shadows in the dark and noises that break silence. As he becomes more confident he will be less fearful. But when Lester is in a place where he feels secure he shows another side of his personality-the fun-loving side. Lester adores the company of other dogs and cats. In fact, he can be a bit too energetic and boisterous in his play. At those times when he cannot entice a playmate he is saddened (to the point of crying) and frustrated. When frustrated, he might go looking for something to chew on. Lester's people take him on four-mile runs to help spend some of his energy. Lester is fed separately and only given chew-treats when he is in the crate. Lester's foster mom says, 'Lester really does love everyone he meets, immediately! It's impossible to meet this boy and not fall in love! He is needy-but doesn't always know how to ask for what he needs. We've learned that he needs activity, every day. And, if he has a fur-sibling, they should be as playful as he is.'
