About Nikki

Adoption Fee: 200
Feist / Chihuahua
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

Reason for being in rescue: Owner release due to the health of the owner Special Needs: Nikki has a 4/5 heart murmor. She is currently on Enalapril and will take a daily medicine for the rest of her life. What kind of home would be best for me: Nikki would fit well in a variety of environments. She could be house dog, a farm dog or an apartment dog. Nikki is shy and needs and experienced owner who will give her time to come out of her shell. Once she trusts you, she will give you her whole heart. What is my personality like: Nikki is an easy dog. She gets along well with other dogs and all people. Given a bit of time she even adjusted to an irritating foster brother puppy. If you need a Riding Buddy, this is your girl! Cars give her great joy! She will let you know someone is at the door and loves to run big zoomies with other dogs around the yard. She's no pushover, but what she loves best is snuggling on the couch & in bed. Nikki loves to be right where you are. She follows her foster mom from room to room, sits next to her on the couch while she's working, and snuggles tight in bed with her foster parents at night. She has learned to play with toys, with the caveat that you will buy lots of stuffed todys. Nikki will de-stuff them. Nikki is crate trained and goes right in. She expects a treat when she is crated. Nikki is very quiet as a rule, but will bark at someone at the door. Once they are through the door she is fine. Nikki is working on her house training. She is clean in her crate and does well when she is taken out on a consistent schedule. Nikki doesn't like new dogs in her face. She never is aggressive, but will let them know they are in her personal space. If you give her a week or 2 that same dog is part of her pack. Nikki LOVES her food. She LOVES treats! She is totally food motivated. Nikki has the most soulful eyes and you will fall in love with them! How do I act when I first meet new people: Nikki will gladly accept affection from everyone. Tips and Tidbits: House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
