About Rex

Rex just got out of SEACCA, in Downey. I was asked to pull him by a strong supporter and a lot of effort was made to get him out. My first phone call with the rescue coordinator at the shelter, revealed everyone loved Rex. Very nice dog I was told. Since being picked up and delivered from puller, to foster, to pilot, to me, every person he came in contact with, remarked at what a genuinely nice dog Rex is. Rex is between 1-2 years. Manners abound. Either someone really worked with this dog, or he was born this way, but he's too incredible for words. He's had to be confined to an 8 x 12 kennel run since getting here, bad luck with his neuter, lots of swelling and he needs to lay low until it goes down. He so wants to run! But is so patient about it! Every day, I loaded the other pack members in the van, went back, to open the kennel door and allow Rex the walk of the yard. He likes to go potty outside his kennel. When I return, he has kenneled himself and laying in his basket, kennel door open, he does not even attempt to get up to greet all the pack coming back in. He knows where I want him. Now, I just leave the kennel door open so he's not feeling so isolated. He's great with other dogs. He's amazing! Someone docked Rex's tail. And to me he looks like a large Border Collie with a lot of Belgian Shepherd, possibly some Kelpie. Whatever his mix, he is an outstanding dog. Can't wait to let him really run free.
