About Roxy

Roxy is approximately 4 years old and is a Pit mix. I rescued Roxy from the shelter on the very last day she was given to live if someone didn't show up to rescue her. I rescue dogs that are in need of medical care, have been abandoned, abused or just have no one to otherwise depend on. I rescue these dogs at my own expense, get them back to optimal health and then try to find them loving forever homes. When I rescued Roxy she had been through a pretty rough time. While at the shelter she was treated for Pneumonia and survived but was still suffering from heart worms which the shelter did not treat. After 2 months at the shelter, she was then put on the list to be euthanized. I saw a plea on a website to save her life so I dropped everything and rushed to save her. Since I adopted Roxy she has went through heart worm treatment and has done very well. I don't know a great deal about Roxy's past but I am quite sure she has at some point had a litter of puppies. Roxy is a very sweet girl and loves people of all ages. She is very loving and playful. She loves her toys and she loves to cuddle. Like a lot of big dogs she thinks she's a lap dog. She is house trained given you do your part to responsibly take her out on a schedule.She has been around other dogs and has for the most part done well with the exception of showing some food aggression. She has been exposed somewhat to cats (meaning she has been in the same vicinity but cats were not accessible to her but she could see them). She showed interest in chasing the cats. She listens very well and is submissive with her humans. I would recommend a home where she is the only dog and one in which she has a fenced yard for playtime and exercise. Must own your own home due to many rentals not allowing pit breeds. Too often people are giving up their dogs due to having to move and rentals not allowing their breed. I also ask for proof of a vet. There is a $75 adoption fee that will be donated. Roxy is a very special girl who was sick, abandoned, and sentenced to die but survived it all!! I need to find a family that will never give up on her and give her the love she so deserves and will show her that not all humans are bad!
