About Lou

Lou the dog needs a new home. We love her but cannot give her the help or home she needs. Can you please help? Lou is a very sweet and sensitive three year old Black Mouth Cur. She is spayed and current on all vaccinations. She weighs 75 pounds. She is microchipped. She has been to obedience training. She sits, lays down, heels and comes very well in normal situations. She gets along fine with other dogs and cats in most situations. Typical of her breed, she is protective of her people but has not demonstrated aggressive behavior. She likes women more than men and most likely she will bond with the lead female in your family. She would love a large secure yard to run and play in. We currently walk her several miles most days. We are her second family, so you would be her third family. We have tried to give her a good home but two issues are forcing us to rehome her. She has demonstrated pretty substantial separation anxiety when the person she has bonded to or both of us leave the house. While she likes a crate if we are home, she will escape or damage the crate if we are gone. She is very strong. Too strong for us when she is in a stressful situation. While we could work with her on the separation anxiety and crate training, we are concerned she will eventually (inadvertently - not on purpose) cause a fall for us as we are in our 60's. We think she is a great dog but have come to realize we cannot give her what she needs. Please consider taking Lou into your home and working with her to give her a forever home. Thank you very much.
