About Penny

Adoption Fee: $250.00
German Shepherd
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

This is Penny, She came to us on an emergency placement situation. We already have 5 dogs so we knew we would only be fostering her so we could work on some 'behaviors' and get her spay done. Now that we have some basics down with training and she is fixed we think it would be best to place her with a forever home. We have only had her for about 4 months but she is great with other dogs, and while she tends to be the more submissive one She would definitely enjoy a home with a companion. When she does play though she is very vocal. Its actually quite funny to watch because she just opens her mouth and makes this noise and just moves her head around. She is crazy about tennis balls and is always down to just veg out on the couch. I have a German Shepherd and in comparison to my boy she is very mild manner. She is a Netflix & chill kinda girl. As far as cat, I was told that she has been seen playing with them however I think due to her size it would need to be the right kind of cat and even a more mature cat as we have a foster juvenile cat in our home now and while she doesn't do anything if she catches her- she does enjoy chasing. Penny is a lover of children! She would actually rather hand out with kids then adults. There is not a whole lot that is not right about Penny. With that being said I will say her area of opportunity is bonding and leash time. Penny came to us from a home where the owner worked a lot- often times 16 hour shifts which resulted in just tossing food in the bowl and being let out being the only interaction. When we picked her up we were told that she had never been on a leash and that walking out front would be her first time ever in the front yard. She is not use to relying on people and there for she will need someone who can dedicate a lot of time with her. Her leash manners need some work as well. This is mainly when you are walking and there is someone else in proximity of her. She gets so excited. She is in no way aggressive but very strong in her pull to get to that person and have them touch her. She might even try to jump. (We have been working on that) Kennels- She is 'kennel Trained' in the idea that she can be in one with no issue however she has remained in our home with free roam of the house with no issue at all- with the exception of chewing on her own dog toys-she has a really passion for breaking them down to there original components :)
