About Poseidon (Poe)

***COURTESY LISTING*** They say every rescue dog has a story - well Poseidon sure does! Abandoned to die inside a Georgia mobile home, his sister Ophelia broke out a window to free them. Neighbors saw their escape and contacted the local shelter, where they were taken in, covered in lacerations, flea-infested, wormy and mangy. Sadly, they escaped one horrific fate once only to end up on death row due to their poor physical condition and shelter overcrowding. But a rescuer stepped up at the last moment and now he's ready for a foster or adopter. Poseidon (Poe for short) is a gentle, loving bully-lab mix that has somehow manages to trust humans despite his harsh past. He's loyal, playful and moderately active and we believe him to be about 2 years old. He rides well in the car, is learning leash manners, likes to romp after toys and enjoys the company of other dogs. He also loves to cuddle next to you on the couch and will lay his head in your lap. Poe is quietly curious about the world around him, house-trained (uses a doggy door), crate-trained, neutered, micro-chipped, up-to-date on shots, weighs 48 lbs. and has a super-soft, sleek black coat and golden eyes that peer lovingly into your soul. He would be a great match for a fun, kind, patient person or family looking for a loyal, loving companion who is also up for car rides and walks. He would do best with another sweet, playful packmate (like his sister) and will make a wonderful companion as he continues to learn what's expected of him. He loves all people including kids and although untested with cats we believe he would do fine if properly introduced. Poseidon is a resilient, gentle, loyal, amazing soul! He's currently fostered in the Jacksonville, FL area (Fernandina Beach) but transport can be arranged. His adoption fee is $75.
