About SAMSON-2

Adoption Fee: $550
German Shepherd
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Samson-2 was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas, he was scheduled to be killed but we saved him just before an untimely death. Samson-2 is neutered, core vaccines, rabies, de-wormed, heartworm tested negative, and micro-chipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 23 July 2016 and weighs around 60 pounds. He is listed as a German Shepherd Dog. We have no way of knowing the exact breed, it is up to individuals to decide what breed they think is most likely. Samson-2 has been with a foster family in Texas, but will be arriving / arrived at the rescue in Sebec, Maine on Saturday 22nd September 2018. This is what his foster family said about him: Samson-2 whilst living with our family was surrounded by 3 other dogs and a small toddler. He is very active and will need an active family to stimulate and challenge him. Samson has a tendency to chew things when bored, like most dogs, he usually grabs dog bones or toys but has been known to steal a sock. He is great with children, playful yet gentle and always enjoys a good tug-o-war match. Samson-2 is great on car rides, would benefit with more guidance on a leash, potty trained and prefers to be right at your side for whatever adventure the day brings. He is eager to please and would be easy to train. He craves attention and just wants to be loved and part of a family. Samson-2 is a young, high energy boy who needs guidance and training and it is important that he has a family that understands this and has the time and patience to work with him. It is important that they spend time as a family to work on training, setting boundaries and learning each others personality and body language. We do NOT have cats or livestock at the rescue so cannot comment on how he would act near or around them. Samson-2 is a very happy, social boy and has never shown any kind of aggression at all, he lives, eats and sleeps with lots of other dogs and puppies and enjoys the company and so a family with another dog would be great, but if not then it is important that he gets to play and interact with other dogs throughout his life. We do NOT recommend dog parks for several months until a bond and trust and knowing to read his body language has been gained. We do not have cats at the rescue so we cannot comment on how he would be around them, he is very curious and playful and so I would expect chasing at a minimum. Samson-2 is available for adoption from Give a Dog a Home, German Shepherd Dog Rescue which is located in Sebec, Maine, for an adoption fee of $550.
