About Griffey

Griffey is a sweet senior male Miniature Poodle - Miniature Pinscher (Minpin) mix dog for adoption to a very loving home in or near Laurel Maryland. This very special Dog is 14 and weighs about 22 pounds. Griffey is being placed for adoption by owner for the following reason: Griffey was rescued by my mother in 2004, not long after she retired. Unfortunately, she took ill earlier this year and now resides in an assisted living facility, and can no longer care for him. My wife and I have 'adopted' him in the interim. The challenge is that we both work full time and have very busy schedules. Griffey is simply not used to being alone in a house for the better part of 10 hours a day, and it's heartbreaking to me that he has to endure this change at this stage in his life. (I think we lose sight of the fact that our pets are just as affected as their human family members when such a life-altering event, such as what happened with my mom, occurs.) He craves human connection, interaction and companionship throughout any given day. I want him to be with someone who can give him that time, attention, and affection around the clock. We briefly discussed the idea of a dog-sitter or walker, but we are not comfortable with strangers entering our home when we are not present.
