About Maverick

Meet Maverick: When you think of survivors think of Maverick. This boy is amazing. He came into the shelter a bit rough around the edges having lived on the streets from what we gather quite some time. He came into the shelter scared, shaking, agitated. He looked like he had been on the streets awhile and not treated well. He had lacerations and bites to his face. He also has had trauma to his right and left paw. The right paw looks like there is significant muscle wasting known as atrophy so likely this is an old injury. Now that Maverick has had a bit of time to decompress he is an amazing dog. He likes to be outside, enjoys the park and still manages to get around with a lame right paw. He is a bit skittish when you first meet him but warms up quickly. We took him to the park where there were lots of children and people and he was just fine and that stimulation did not bother him. He rides well in a car and is a sweetie once he warms up to you. He is not friendly with other dogs at this point. Maverick is a great dog who just needs some decompressing. An experienced owner would be helpful for this boy. We are looking for a foster family or individual who can spend time with him, helping him navigate his new surroundings. He is very smart and adapts quickly.
