About Milo

Adoption Fee: $399
American Eskimo Dog mix
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Reason for being in rescue: Owner surrender. Milo was adopted from Carolina Poodle Rescue in 2017. He was returned in spring 2018 when his family moved and couldn't take him with them. Special Needs: None noted What kind of home would be best for me? Milo is looking for someone to play with and that will let him hang out and be a companion. He also needs someone that understands that he has had a rough past but is moving forward. He needs a lot of exercise and someone that knows dog behavior. He needs a good dog leader mom. Milo needs a yard where he can run and play. He would not be a good first time dog owner dog - he needs someone who is a little more experienced. Milo is a great dog, but needs the right person to help him thrive. Owner Experience 8: More than 10 years as a dog owner. Multiple dog owner. At least three professional training courses. Long history of superior vet care. No history or rehoming, or rehoming only for serious lifestyle challenge and worked through a reputable rescue to place and follow up. What is my personality like: Milo loves to play but he also loves laying down and watching tv. He easily entertains himself with a rope toy or a ball. When he was a puppy he was left in a crate for most of puppyhood and does not like crates as he became an adult. He will go in one and quietly lay down but he will growl and bark at people and dogs outside the crate. The only other quirk we have found is that instead of taking the ball out of his mouth you have to say 'drop it' he does not like his ball taken from him, probably also a side effect from his painful past. The longer he is here the more he just flourishes! He is a flower waiting to come into full bloom. He really is a good, playful, handsome boy! He is just waiting on someone that he can trust again!Milo barks and lunges at other dogs on walks. He needs a fenced in yard for energy to get out and someone who understands that walking by another dog is going to be a project. He'll get it - he does here. But he has to trust the person at the other end of the leash. Milo prefers to be an only dog. How do I act when I first meet new people: Milo is shy but a total love bug when he comes out of his shell. Treats and toys are the way to his heart! Tips and Tidbits: House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
