About Papi (with Margie)

Reason for being in rescue: Papi and the other animals in his home were surrendered to a rural animal shelter in North Carolina by owners who were moving and didn't want to take their pets. Special Needs: none noted. What kind of home would be best for me? Papi will do best in a a calm home that will love him and his friend Margie together. They are bonded to each other and need a home that will accept and love them both. Owner Experience Level 4: Second or third dog, no experience with behavior or medical issues other than routine end of life issues What is my personality like? Papi arrived fearful, and cautious of everyone. Who could blame him: But a few days later he was willing to jump in laps and beg for attention. Papi is a fabulous lap dog if someone would just give him patience, and a lot of treats. He does not care for toys but loves treats. He is actually pretty smart and highly treat motivated. Papi knows how to sit, lay down, roll over, and dance! Papi is bonded to his poodle wife Margie. How do I act when I first meet new people: Timid but friendly Tips and Tidbits: Papi would love to go to a home with Margie, his sister. House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
