About Clouseau

Adoption Fee: $75
Japanese Bobtail / Turkish Van
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Clouseau, aka Clou has had quite a bit of upheaval in his life. In December 2017 his original owner contacted our organization with the request to rehome him and his 'bonded' brother, a Bengal cat. Her son was born with severe cat allergies and a heart condition that required several cardiac surgeries. Due to all of this stress in her life, she was unable to keep the cats. We found a lady who agreed to take both of them in, but contacted us in July 2018 because she couldn't keep up with the very active Bengal cat. She commented that she had become very fond of Clou who had evolved into a very sweet and connected boy who would come to her for pets and attention. We found some wonderful adopters who were looking to adopt a bonded adult pair. Sadly it has become very apparent that this 'bonded' pair is actually not bonded at all. It turns out that the Bengal has been very aggressive towards Clou right from the beginning. Looking back over our notes, we came to realize that what the original owner described as 'just playing a little rough' has actually been an aggressive and domineering behavior by the Bengal cat all along. Since Clou is the younger of the cats, and the Bengal cat has become quite attached to one of his parents, they have asked us to find an extra special and loving home for this docile and precious boy. Clou has a slight disability because he is deaf. When approached, the new owner will have to be understanding on how to approach him so as not to startle him. There are some great suggestions on how to best approach a deaf kitty on the Internet. Clou is a sweet boy with a beautiful purr and endearing demeanor once he trusts you and feels comfortable. He is very vocal probably because of his disability. He loves butt rubs, to play with the laser toys and eat his sweet grass. He is a wonderful cat that just wants to be loved. His current owner feels so sad for him because of the fact that he has to defend himself from their Bengal cat at least once per day. Clou simply is not an alpha kitty and would much rather never be involved in a fight. He just had a complete vet checkup and had to have some teeth pulled. He is weighing in at 12.9 lbs. He uses his litter box without issue. He deserves a home where he can either be an only kitty or where he will be partnered up with some very docile, non domineering fur companions. This is not an easy rehome request because his current owners really care very much for him. They just know that he will do so much better in a home where he doesn't have to defend himself from being pounced on by a domineering cat.
