About Pearl

Papillon / Cavalier
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Female

What a sweet and kind Papillon/Cavalier mix our Pearl is! Is that a PapCav or a Lonlier...we're not sure but it's a designer breed mix that is opportunistically being bred for their adorable looks, cottony-soft coats and sweet and cuddly temperaments. As a result of this human greed, these pups are being bred, sold for very high prices or dumped if the breeder runs into any challenges. Farfel's is very happy to rescue these dogs and find them nurturing and very committed homes. At just about 18 months old and 12 lbs, Pearl is an incredibly beautiful girl . We all know that Pearl has arrived when we see the wag that starts at her tail and becomes a full-blown body wiggle. She is greeting either a friend or anyone who has the potential to be a future playmate. Pearl is initially cautious...assessing the situation to make sure all is OK. This makes perfect sense as she's been through time spent at a high-kill shelter waiting for her pending euthanasia date due to lack of space. When Pearl was temperament tested and identified with a great temperament, Farfel's spoke up to bring Pearl to safety (and a new forever family) in Colorado. Once Pearl senses that all present are her friends, she is so engaging and friendly and always hopes that every pat and kind word will turn into a friend. Both people and other dogs are drawn to Pearl for her kind attitude and, once comfortable, her fun and playful ways. Pearl's foster mom is teaching her about her first experience with toys. She seems to love them and waits expectantly...with her eyes so bright and joyful..while her foster mom tosses her favorite ball off. Pearl doesn't seem to have had previous leash experience but is engaged in learning her skills... and seems to love the experience. Farfel's Rescue has determined that Pearl would be happier in a mellow home where she is an active and important member of the family. We feel that this would be more possible in an adult home (retirees would be perfect) where there's a more predictable environment. Pearl would be overjoyed to spend parts of the day together either taking walks through the beauty of Colorado or having fun in the back yard. Then at day's end, she's the ultimate snuggler and sleeps soundly through the night. It is Pearl's love affair with life and all the hardships that she's suffered along the way that motivates us to put her through Heartworm treatments..her precious life deserves to be saved! Pearl has tested HW+ and Farfel's (with the help of Dr G in Denver) has volunteered to save this very special dog's life. The heart worm treatment process involves several shots followed by a short period of quiet time for the dog. We have found this protocol to be very successful and all the dogs we've treated have gone on to live long, happy lives. We are seeking an adopter to lovingly care for Pearl as she becomes Heartworm negative. It's quite an easy rehab process as it only entails mellow time with leash walks and belly rubs. Farfel's will pay the vet bills and provide premium food and treats for this special pup as she becomes healthily heartworm-free. Pearl (like all dogs) will benefit from positive reinforcement obedience classes - she is a super-smart pup who truly wants to please. Positive reinforcement training will give Pearl the skills to have excellent behavior as an adult dog. These force-free classes will not only bring out the great qualities of this pup but will create a tightly-knit bonding with all family members . Pearl has a stunning apricot coat with beautiful white markings. She will require a commitment to periodic sudsy baths/brushing and great nutrition (a salmon oil supplement is highly recommended for longevity and coat care) to keep Pearl's hair healthy, cottony-soft and matt-free. Pearl will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 9/28/18. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested in this extremely sweet, cuddly and fun-loving best friend, please fill out our application completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Pearl please be sure to fill out our adoption application. It's the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving girl. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit an adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
