About Koda

Alaskan Malamute
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Hello, I am writing you in hopes that you will be able to help me out or possibly point me in the right direction or know any resources I can use. So I have a 3-4 year old White Malamute named Koda. My roommate and I adopted him from the Shelby County Animal Shelter. From what we were told from the Shelter Koda's previous owners kept him in the backyard full time and used him for breeding purposes. The only thing the Shelter told us was that he was weird about his belly being rubbed. We learned very quickly that was not the case! Koda is very food aggressive, he likes to get food off the counters and take food off your plate and there is no getting it back because he will bite you. When you try to discipline him on anything he gets aggressive (He will bite) and does not listen to anything you say or try to get him to do. It seems that he does things out of spite, I'm not quite sure '|. He will be outside for 30 min to an hour to use the restroom and when we let him back inside he will look right at us and pee on the floor. While left home alone all day he doesn't chew anything up but he pees everywhere!!! We have literally tried everything to correct these issues, advice and training tips/techniques from a dog trainer. We have also used training collars. Nothing works and we don't know what else to do. When he's lounging around the house he's super chill and will cuddle with you, he's great about meeting new people but we just worry because he has so many ticks we are worried he will bite someone, like grabbing his collar or trying to lead him somewhere. Well that's about it %81 Once again I'm hoping you can help because we truly want what's best for him and we believe it's not with us.
