About Niko

Niko was put on Free Craigslist by his owner that was going off to college and could not take him, nor would her parents keep him. She said he was trained, had all vaccinations and was chipped. He has been an outdoor dog. We have tried him out inside and he seems fine after a couple accidents the first couple days. Unfortunately, he is not as trained as we were led to believe. I have no doubt he is capable of learning and is a sweet dog. But he is too big for me to handle and I have a 3 year old that is no match for his size when he wants through! I wanted to help give him a good home but I know nothing about training a dog this size and age (7). He needs grooming, when we got him he had matts bigger than my hand. I have brushed through most on his neck area and been able to clip some on his hind quarters but he does not like it and I can't hold him. I will continue to work on it but he may need professional grooming or sedation to get him through the first time. He is usually calm and mild mannered, barks at his reflection and the lawn mower but when the neighbor's dogs meet him at the fence he barks a second then walks away. I hate to do this, I could not let him be on Craigslist. This is from his owner's Craigslist post - 'He is very sweet and loving. Not aggressive at all! He is an adult dog but he is so smart is easy to teach. He loves being outdoors, walks, and car rides! He's the most easy going dog and is great around kids.'
