About DAPPER

DAPPER is a loveable, affectionate dog that wants nothing more than to be with his owner. He thinks he is a puppy, and wants to crawl in your lap or lay next to you. He enjoys laying around, playing ball, or learning new things. He appears to have herding abilities. He is approx 2 yrs old. and weighs about 75#. He was rescued from a high kill shelter on his last day. While he was in the shelter, a hurricane passed by. Perhaps related to this, he is very fearful of thunder and loud noises like firecrackers. A thunder shirt helps to some degree, but he really just wants to snuggle next to his owner. He gets along great with submissive dogs only. For this reason we recommend that he be in a one dog only household, preferably with only 1 person. Walks on a leash, knows 'sit', does not jump up on people, and is eager to please. He does need a owner that is a leader, and will guide him in how he should respond / react to various stimuli and situations. For the most part he is a very happy dog and likes people, but occasionally he will bark and growl at the same people for no known reason. He will stop when corrected. He does not like to be yelled at and cowers when scolded. He loves praise, and affection, and melts like butter onto the floor when given a loving massage. He prefers to start the night off in his masters bed, but then will get down in to his own nearby bed during the night. In the morning, he loves to jump in the bed a greet you with kisses. He is house trained and crate trained (though he prefers to lounge around the house.) He is not destructive. Requirements: feed dog a 4 to 5 star dog food based on dogfoodadvisor.com, keep dog on Monthly Revolution preventative, keep dog indoors and treat him like a part of the family, and spend time daily interacting with him with a walk, play and affectionate snuggle.
