About Mella

Meet Mella! Mella is a sweet, playful Great American Shelter Dog who is 3 year old who weighs 52lbs. Mella is a bit of a scaredy cat--but only at first!! Once she warms up, this girl will melt into your arms and entertain you with her goofy antics. She spent some time in a home with kids, dogs, and cats, and reportedly was very gentle and kind with them. They also said she has wonderful manners in the house. When it's playtime though, she loves to romp around! She is loving the playtime with other dogs here in our play yards! She even met some goats and seemed completely comfortable with them. You may hear a grumble from her if you come meet her in the kennel, but ask staff to introduce you and you'll see the sweet girl we've come to love. She may not be a social butterfly, but she is so warm and loving with her friends and people who take the extra second to reassure her. You are encouraged to make every effort to visit the shelter for a meet and greet. Staff available to assist. You can walk on the trails and interact in the play yards. Unless otherwise noted, we can not say if your dog does well with cats, livestock or chickens or with the dogs you may already have in your home or at dog parks. So please, if you have a dog, please arrange to bring for a meet and greet. Current vaccinations, spayed or neutered and micro chipped.
