About Danika

Adoption Fee: $175
Collie / German Shepherd
Age: Adult
Sex: Female

If you're enduring the darkness, won't you please let me light your way? I'm Danica and my name means 'Morning Star.' It's been a rough road for me for the past several years; I lived in a crowded house with 7 other dogs and many cats. My owner got too old to take care of all of us and right when I thought things couldn't get any worse, me and all my friends ended up in a rural kill shelter. That's when Augusta Dog Adoptions showed up and rescued all of us (and four other dogs) and I learned that stars can't shine without darkness. My foster mom hasn't had the opportunity to cat test me yet, but I lived with cats and other dogs before I came here. I've done well with my foster mom's kid so far. Despite being an inside dog for so long, I will need a refresher course on house-training; remember, my elderly owner was not able to take us for regular walks. I am very responsive and cooperative on leash and I am making slow progress with crate-training. You'd think a dog as neglected as I have been would have trouble making meaningful connections with people, but I am just about as affectionate as they come. I love being near my owner and showering them with attention (especially when the attention is reciprocated). My roommates and I, we are all stars, and each of us deserve to twinkle; would you open your heart and home to me so I can shine on with you? Please come meet me at the Waynesboro Petsmart on Saturdays between 10 AM and 2 PM! Augusta Dog Adoptions is an all- volunteer, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and hold adoption events at Petsmart in Waynesboro, VA (821 Town Center Drive Waynesboro, VA 22980) every Saturday. A $175.00 adoption fee ($200 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries. For more information and to apply to adopt, please visit www.augustadogadoptions.org If you google our address, you will be directed to Richmond. That is NOT our adoption event location. If you have questions, please message us on Facebook.
