Drumroll please'|.it is I, the one you have all been waiting for, Santino the Great! I've been thriving in my foster home and after several months of TLC, I'm ready to charm my way into your home. Augusta Dog Adoptions pulled me from the local shelter soon after I landed there. My old owner used to leave me and my siblings at home for weeks at a time; I ended up getting pretty sick and very, very lonesome. In spite of all these hardships, I'm still very affectionate and kind. So let's address the big, bald elephant in the room. You can see from my pictures that I'm missing some hair. It turns out that I had an undiagnosed thyroid issue that caused me to go partially bald. Thanks to some cheap thyroid medications and baths with special soap, I'm healthy again and my hair is growing back! And let me tell you, that's a relief because dog toupees are priced pretty dang steep these days. Cats, dogs, kids- they're all great in my book. I'll take attention from just about any living thing! I've even progressed enough to remember how to play with other dogs and man, it's great fun. Now, if you don't pay enough attention to me, I will let you know with a little bark. So I'm easy going, but I definitely don't like to be ignored. Now that I'm feeling better, my energy levels are slowly coming back up; I enjoy playing with other dogs, toys, and humans and I can even do almost two laps at Coyner Springs Dog Park! Oh, you're curious about my training? Prepare to be amazed by Santino the Great! I am leash-trained, house-trained, and crate-trained. And about the crate- you don't really need to leave me in there because you can trust me to behave myself around the house. Oh, and my crate will need a very plush, comfy bed. Life has been hard on me, don't make my bed hard, too! My hobbies include laying in the floor and squeaking my squeak toys, playing fetch or keep away, going on car rides, and helping you shoulder the burden of excess table scraps. Now that I'm strong enough to get up on the couch on my own, I'm hoping to refine my skills in couch snuggles and couch snoozles. So if you are looking for an everything-friendly doggo companion for yourself or the whole family, you should apply to adopt me, Santino, while supplies last! Special needs: Needs regular thyroid medication (not expensive), currently being treated for an ear infection, currently being bathed with Malaseb once a week, sunburns easily, hesitates at the tops of some flights of stairs. Augusta Dog Adoptions is an all- volunteer, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and hold adoption events at Petsmart in Waynesboro, VA (821 Town Center Drive Waynesboro, VA 22980) every Saturday. A $175.00 adoption fee ($200 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries. For more information and to apply to adopt, please visit www.augustadogadoptions.org If you google our address, you will be directed to Richmond. That is NOT our adoption event location.
