About Josh

Adoption Fee: $275
Beagle / German Shepherd
Age: Young Adult
Sex: Male

Josh is a very sweet, shy, gentle, fun, and loving, two-year-old, 35-pound male Shepherd/Beagle-mix looking for a loving guardian. Josh was rescued from a shelter in Kentucky with his brother Drake (who has been adopted!). He absolutely loves toys and other dogs, and he will be best in a home with at least one other dog to play with. Josh can be quite bashful with new people and in new situations/environments. It took him a few weeks to really settle in to his foster home and to warm up to his temporary guardians. He is not aggressive or snappy at all, just very shy with new people. Once he is comfortable, he is a very affectionate fellow! He also has a silly side and loves to toss his toys to himself and roll around on the floor with them! He's extremely quiet in the home and is just a very gentle, sensitive and mild-mannered boy who'd love a patient and nurturing family of his own. Josh is housebroken when kept on a regular schedule. He still has some puppy left in him and can be a bit mischevious when left to his own devices and sometimes like to shred papers and the occasional shoe or remote if left in his reach. He is crated when left alone or when he can't be watched. Luckily, he feels very comfortable in his crate and retreats there as his safe place. He even likes to sleep in his crate. He is healthy, neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, heartworm and fecal-tested. Sadly, he tested positive for Lyme disease and Ehrlichia when he was first rescued two months ago. The infection did some damage to the joint in one of his front legs. He may always walk with a bit of a limp, but it doesn't hinder his mobility at all and he still runs around to play and can handle stairs and such with no issues. He has since recovered beautifully after treatment for both tick-borne illnesses. Josh's adoption fee to the rescue is $275. This helps to cover some of the medical expenses incurred to prepare him for adoption. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date with vaccines. He's also recently had a full blood panel, urinalysis and set of x-rays. If seriously interested in possibly adopting this gentle boy, please email [email protected].
