About Cindy Lou

Adoption Fee: 300$
Maltese / Poodle
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

CINDY LOU!!! It's time ... to put our beloved girl up for adoption so she can find her forever home. Her best friend, Lola, just doesn't play with her as much as she wants; they will miss each other but Cindy needs a full time playmate in order to be happy. She had her liver function tested 3 weeks ago and, I'm so incredibly sad to say, it still is NOT working as it should. The damage done to her liver prior to the shunt repair just was too much. Cindy has started back on a liver medication and, with continued special diet, could live for several years or up until she's a senior., Because she's so perky and shows no physical signs of liver dysfunction, her prognosis tends to lean towards a longer life, thank God. But there are no guarantees...my heart broke when I heard that her liver wasn't working normally and I haven't had the courage or been able to post the outcome. Although I'd love to keep Cindy Lou with me, I am not her perfect home ... the one she deserves so much ... where she gets to play as much as her heart desires with a best friend & where she gets lots of walks & outings to keep her entertained. We are only going to adopt her locally so that we can continue to visit her and keep close tabs on her; and hopefully where I can be the babysitter if her new family goes out of town. So, as hard as this is going to be for me, it's time to let Cindy Lou find a new mom &/or dad who will love her as much as I do. So here is the on line bio to be posted on various adoption sites for this truly special, incredible little girl: 'Oh, how we adore this special darling! Cindy Lou Who is definitely a one in a million little girl! She's a 1 year old, 10 lb, maltipoo (maltese/poodle) who has won the hearts of thousands. Cindy is as feisty and outgoing as they come; she's our little social butterfly who loves meeting people, car rides, walks and play time! She thrives on lots of outings and is a vivacious girl who makes friends wherever she goes. Although busy and active, when Cindy does tire & is ready for a nap, she is the perfect cuddler. She curls up in your arms like a baby with a little sigh of contentment. Sleeping in bed with her person is a 'must' for Cindy as she likes to sleep snuggled up against you. Cindy has been in a foster home with 8 other dogs and gets along well with all of them. However, when she meets new dogs, particularly large ones, Cindy likes to announce that 'the queen' is present; a shrinking violet she is not! She's fearless! But once she's made her presence known, she settles down and co-habitates with her canine pals easily. Cindy does prefer small dogs (less than 20 lbs) as they are easier for her to wrestle with, being closer to her size. She was confiscated by the police during the raid of a drug house; Cindy had been dyed blue and was being kept in an octagonal fish aquarium. After undergoing two weeks of withdrawals from her extreme exposure to drug smoke, we learned that she also had an improperly functioning liver due to a hepatic shunt. This was consequently surgically repaired but her liver function is still impaired. Cindy Lou will require lifelong special hepatic food & medication in order to keep her as healthy as possible. Our vet indicates that, despite having hepatic abnormality, she should live anywhere from two to ten years ... it just depends on how well her body continues to remove toxins. Because Cindy is so healthy & happy now, and is showing no outward signs of her liver problems, her prognosis leans towards the latter. Because of all that Cindy has gone through, we want her to have the very best life possible with all she needs to be absolutely happy. Her perfect new home will have a fenced in yard as well as a young & very playful dog who will give her all the wrestling & chasing & rough housing that she loves so much. Frequent walks & car rides are also essential as Cindy loves the stimulation these entail. We will only be considering adopters within one hour of Indianapolis. If you meet this criteria and would like to adopt this amazing little dog, please let us know. Cindy's adoption fee is $300; she has been spayed, microchipped and is current on vaccinations,' The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an application.
