About Romeo

Adoption Fee: $125
Yorkie
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Romeo is an adorable male yorkie who is 7 years old and now weighs a skinny 4.14 lbs. Little Romeo is being fostered in Ocala, FL. UPDATED BIO 01/15/2019: Hi, Romeo here. First, let me say Happy New Year to all my followers and admirers - yes, I know I have them. So far, it has been a great start to the New Year for me. I am feeling so much better and am continuing with my laser treatments, prednisone and a little pain medication at night. I am going to meet with the doctor next week to discuss my on-going treatment plan and will update you after that visit. I am giving my foster mommy kisses all the time because I feel great. That's not to say that I might not have a down day here and there. As I mentioned previously, the doctor believes I have Wobbler Syndrome- the great big name for this is Cervical Spondylomyelopathy or CSM. (Read my previous bio update to learn about this.) The doctor does not feel it is necessary to have an MRI to confirm her diagnosis. Even if I have a confirmed diagnosis, surgery is so expensive and is not guaranteed to work. The downside of my disease is that I may be okay today, but could become very ill at any moment. However, it could take many years for this to happen. No one knows for certain - life is like that for both animals and people. I like to be a one-day-at-a-time kinda guy so I can enjoy each new day. I continue to play with my toys and I am holding up my head more and more. However, I can't hold it up all the time cuz of my neck pain. That does not bother me because if I am looking down at the floor, I can find any food that my foster mommy may drop before my furbrothers find it. Bonus! My foster mommy still thinks I should be an only dog. I LOVE attention and sometimes I get jealous of my furbrothers. My foster mommy says I turn into Kujo but it only lasts for a minute. Well, it's my bedtime so I have to close for now (can't wait to curl up next to my foster mommy in bed). I know there is that special person out there that needs a special little loveable boy like me. I am going to start dreaming about my new forever family. Sweet dreams. PLEASE NOTE: Due to Romeo's tiny size and special needs, he must be adopted into an adult-only home. No exceptions please. ONE MORE THING: My vet bills are now almost $2,000 so if you are reading my update, that means you are interested in knowing how I am doing. Since you are interested in me, maybe you are feeling a bit generous. Please think about making a donation to help UYR with my medical expenses. Even $5 will help - and it will help UYR when they are approached about taking in another little medically-needy doggie like me. Stay tuned to see if this new treatment plan will work.
