Meet Chester Brace yourself��%BD'��%BD|Chester is going to steal your heart! Chester is a seven year-old Shih Tzu-Chi mix. He was owner surrendered to our shelter in late August after his owner passed away and his owner's mother wasn't able to keep him when she moved to an assisted living situation. It was an emotional surrender to say the least. When Chester first arrived he was terribly frightened and confused and would tremble when you looked at him. But he's been so brave these past couple of weeks. He's quickly become a shelter and volunteer favorite, even going to the local nursing home. He uses his big brown eyes and goofy grin, along with his super sweet and charming personality to capture everyone's affection. Chester loves nothing better than to snuggle in your lap, but he's a good little walker. He really just wants someone he can love and who loves him back. He rides well in a car and would be a terrific companion to take along wherever you want to go. Chester is great with kids, dogs and cats. He's small and portable, weighing 14 pounds. He's neutered, tested heart worm negative and is current on his vaccinations. Chester is such a lovely dog. If you're looking for a forever companion, get your application in quickly. Please ignore this. It is a system glitch and the submission HAS gone through. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with current/recent vet, a call to landlord if renting and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. Those who are not in a nearby community will have a virtual home visit. We do permit out of state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship nor do we transport them to their new homes. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are primarily owner relinquished and also accepted from local Animal Control. The facility usually is operating at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.
