'I am one of the last of a small tribe of troubadours, who still believe that life is a beautiful and exciting journey with a purpose and grace which are well worth singing about.' - Yip Harburg ----------------------------------------------------- Six months ago, I did not know life was beautiful. I didn't know if I would survive until the next day. I grew up not knowing love, faith, or hope. I saved my energy for defense, that is all. Now I have all kinds of energy; I can run for hours and would love a running buddy. I have never had a friend, only enemies. I love my new human friends and I bond to them quickly, but I am still mistrustful of dogs, as I have been hurt and will always bear the scars as proof. The day that I was rescued was the day my life began, but I know there is more to life than being rescued. I want to jump into life with my humans. I am slow to warm up to other animals, such as dogs and cats, but I know that there is a reason that God brought me into this world and out of the cold, my story is not done. I have so much more to tell and share, but I need someone to love me, and stay active with me to keep writing my story. I don't want to sound selfish, but I have been through so much and I was so exhausted for so long. I ran to live and now I just want to live to run, play, and cuddle. Give me a shot, come adopt me, lets finish our story. ------------------------------------------------------ TJ is a great dog. He loves belly rubs and walks. He doesn't like other dogs in his face but is not outwardly aggressive when in supervised play. He just needs another companion dog that is not all over him and time to learn to be a dog. We don't think he has had much of that. When he first came to rescue, he had a dog bed, blanket, and a doggie door to his indoor kennel area and then to the exercise run. It started to rain and drizzle with close to freezing temperatures so I went out to check on him. I found him curled up in a tiny ball in the yard freezing. I brought him into his indoor kennel and after some coaxing, convinced him that it was ok to lay on his dog bed under his blanket. He didn't know he could come inside to sleep! Now, that is one of his favorite things! He takes his blanket with him everywhere he goes. It is so cute. This boy is also built like a tank. Now that he is at a good weight, he just looks incredible with rippling muscles and a strong and proud gait. This boy would love a home of his own with an active family who adores him. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Intake Date: 26 Aug 18----- Age: 2-3 yrs----- Weight: 55-60 lbs----- Breed: est Catahoula mix----- Status: found astray----- Compatible with: children, some dogs----- Suitable for: house with fenced yard----- Medical/Behavioral Needs: slow intros to other dogs. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Happy National Dog Day Troubadour!
