About Roscoe

Meet this cutie Roscoe. Roscoe is a sweet, smart 1 1/2 to 2 year old pit mix and was found as a stray. What we have learned about him in a short period of time is that he is the sweetest guy. He loves being petted, giving kisses and getting belly rubs. In fact, he would be perfectly content just sitting beside you for hours if you petted him. He LOVES toys and is not dog aggressive and tries to play with other dogs through our fence so we think he would be fine with a fur sibling of similar size and temperament, but he could also be your one and only. He is learning to walk on a leash and is doing very well. While Roscoe is initially intimidated to get into a car, once he is strapped in, he does just fine! Roscoe has not been exposed to children during the time we have had him so we can't speak to that and don't yet know how he feels about cats. When we first found Roscoe he was tired and hungry from running the busy dangerous streets of Houston. He was quite shy and unsure and terribly skinny. Roscoe became comfortable quickly and adapted to our routine almost instantly. He has come out of his shell and is showing that he is loving, playful and extremely smart. He's learned that it's pretty cool to have humans, a soft bed, toys, and the choice to either have sun to lay in or shade to rest in. He loves his food and is now getting stronger and starting to fill out nicely. Roscoe is very smart and it would not take long for him to learn what you want him to do. But since he is so smart, he does need lots of toys and chewies to occupy his time, otherwise when left to his own devices, he might get a little destructive, but we believe this could be easily corrected with an owner who has experience training a big guy. He's ready for his furever home and to love his humans. Roscoe has been to the vet and did very well. He is now UTD on shots, including bordatello and rabies. Roscoe is heartworm positive and has started treatment. Any potential adopter must agree to continue and complete his heartworm treatment, agree to neuter, and a strong vet history is required. Roscoe loves being outside, so a secure fenced yard is required for Roscoe since we don't want him to ever have to live on the streets again. But he also deserves the chance to spend time inside as well. We are working with him and his feeling on being crated. Updates to follow as we learn more.
