About Pickles

Adoption Fee: $200
American Eskimo Dog
Age: Adult

This is for Pickles and Bam Bam both! Pickles is an 8 yr old, recently spayed female and Bam Bam is a 10 yr old neutered male American Eskimo. Both where breeding dogs until recently when I got them from their former owner - the breeder. Pickles was a show dog until she was 'retired' as a breeding dog. Neither knew how to 'just be a dog', It has taken them several weeks to relax and calmed down and trust me. All the hair that Pickles pulled out of her back side and tail when she was in her breeding pen, is growing back nicely though, there is a noticeable difference in the length between the old and new coats. They, like all Eskimos, are active dogs and become destructive when boarded. They are both micro chipped and double registered - AKC and UKC. I will be getting the registries for both as soon as I send proof of Pickles spay to the breeder / former owner. Both need a great deal of leash work by everyone that is in the home. I am the only one that walks and takes care of them; they bark at anyone that comes near them and often hide under the bed to bark. At first, I went as far as attaching their leashes to my belt for the first several days both inside and out, where ever I went so, they had to come with me, get used to me and trust that I would not hurt them. After this and taking them on long daily walks during those first several weeks especially, they will come to me when called and not bark at me anymore but, will let me know when anyone in the house moves. Pickles is the dominate one of the two; Bam Bam will fallow anything she does. He is slightly overweight as he must be fed separately from Pickles or he will inhale his and then push her off of her food. We feed raw so, I will feed them both from a fork and able to control how much each eats. Both are ok with other dogs and cats. Chickens are fun toys that squeak and move, they waited till I was gone to attack them. Horses, if they run, Pickles will chase and Bam Bam will run back to the house when I yell at her. Bam Bam being only recently neutered still has issues now and then with raising his leg on things in the house but if taken out, they will go outside and are housebroke, other than the occasional leg raising thing.
