About Dixie

My name is Dixie (my mommy called me Dixie Doodle). I am only two years old. I can't live with my mommy in Oklahoma anymore because she had to move from our house to an apartment when my daddy was mean to her. So, I am living with my Auntie Lisa until I am adopted by a new mommy/daddy/family. This may be a little hard because, while I am a VERY big baby ( I weigh 81 pounds and am very strong) that loves my people; I am also a pit mix which some people and other dogs think is scary. I don't understand why. I love PEOPLE, big and little, male and female and other dogs, big and small; however, I will protect my people from another aggressive dog. My cousin Dodge is a little chiweenie. He really puts me in my place when I get too enthusiastic when I am playing with him. My Auntie Lisa is getting me training so I will ignore other dogs and she has already paid for me to continue with you if you can give me a loving home. I am very smart and very quick to learn because it is fun and my Auntie Lisa gives me lots of praise. I love playing with Aunt Lisa in her big backyard because she lets me go crazy and jump and run and bark (but only before bed time because I have a big bark). I am crate trained; so, while my mommy slept in MY bed at night, Aunt Lisa makes me sleep in my crate next to my cousin's crate. I really want to be wherever my people or my dog friends are, so I cry if you leave me alone. I am on a diet because the vet says I shouldn't be more than 60-65 pounds. I only eat a cup of dog food per day, but I really love my snacks. Aunt Lisa has cut out the snacks and has started walking me twice a day to ensure I (she) gets enough exercise. That really poops me out! I have had a hysterectomy; so, no babies are in my future. ��� I had all my shots in Oklahoma but Aunt Lisa took me to a really nice doctor and he gave me two more that are good for me in Tennessee. I really would like to find a mommy/daddy/family who: 1) Know how cuddly and sweet my breed of dog can be; 2) Have another baby that I can play with and keep me company when my people aren't around (maybe a little bit bigger than my cousin so we can REALLY play but I love little doggies too); and 3) Will LOVE me the way I deserve to be loved.
