About Blue

I have a male dog, approximately 4-years-old, Bluetick Coonhound available for adoption; 60 pounds, neutered, microchipped, and up to date with all vaccinations, heartguard, and flea and tick medications. I adopted him in May of this year as a second dog within my household, and my first dog is exhibiting aggressive behaviors towards him, so I need to protect them both. I named him Blue, which he responds to well, and he is a true hunting dog; passionately pursues squirrels and anything else in nature. He does have separation anxiety challenges and would be best suited in a household that is willing to work with him on this. When he is in the house, he is happiest alongside his human, and when he is outside, he loves to wonder. I'd like to see him rehomed somewhere with a big yard. I have been giving him some medication, which has helped tremendously with the anxiety. During bedtime and thunderstorms, he prefers a crate as his den (crate will be provided). He doesn't initiate aggression with other dogs, and he interacts well with kids. I would not recommend that he is rehomed with a cat. Previous to me adopting him, I think he was in the wild for a while, and I want to find a home for him that will treat him as a family member, but also understand that he has a hunter mentality.
