URGENT!!! LUCAS IS ONE OF SEVERAL HIGHLY ADOPTABLE DOGS LISTED ON THIS SITE WHO WERE RESCUED FROM A HIGH KILL SHELTER BUT ARE NOW AT RISK DUE TO KENNEL STRESS. THROUGH NO FAULT OF HIS OWN, HE WILL HAVE TO GO TO KENNEL BECAUSE IT'S THERE ARE NO FOSTERS AVAILABLE RIGHT NOW. HE IS A HIGH RISK FOR KENNEL STRESS (NOT EATING, DEPRESSION, LICKING, SELF MUTILATION, ETC). BECAUSE HE'S SO ACTIVE AND ACCUSTOMED TO BEING IN A HOME AND GETTING DAILY EXERCIS. LUCAS IS VERY SOCIAL AND NEEDS A HOME WHERE HE IS LOVED AND GETS DAILY EXERCISED AND IS TREATED AS A MEMBER OF THE FAMILY. LIVING IN A BOARDING FACILITY WILL KILL HIM.... IT'S LIKE SOLITARY CONFINEMENT TO PUPS. CAN YOU IMAGINE BEING IN A PEN 23 HOURS A DAY? SOCIAL DOGS WHO SUFFER FROM KENNEL STRESS CAN QUICKLY DEVOLVE LEAVING THEIR RESCUE WITH NO OPTION BUT TO EUTHANIZE THE PUP. PLEASE CONSIDER OPENING YOUR HEART AND HOME TO LUCAS EITHER AS A FOSTER OR ADOPTER TODAY. HE DESPERATELY NEEDS YOUR HELP. This gorgeous, fun-loving, friendly 3 year old lab mix is in urgent need of a foster or adopter. His owner surrendered him to Lulu's this summer because they didn't have time for him. Lucas was crated for 12-18 hours every day for 3 years and of course he didn't receive the proper training and socialization puppies want and need. Despite the neglect he is a happy, friendly pup who loves other dogs and people--just gets over excited and plays a little too rough. He is so happy for the attention and companionship, that he wants to share his exuberance with everyone. Lucas has come a long way but he still needs some training before he will be ready for adoption. He needs a new foster home by tomorrow or he will go into a kennel which is simply the worse place for him. Dogs like Lucas do not do well in solitary confinement 22 hours a day. More than likely, as is the case with many dogs, he will devolve quickly because of kennel stress, stop eating, become emaciated and ultimately need to be euthanized. This is such a heartbreaking scenario and doesn't have to happen to Lucas. Lucas is a great dog who just needs consistent daily exercise and some basic training with a savvy foster. Do you have a large fenced in yard where he can run and burn off excess energy? Are you willing to work with him and our trainer (at no cost to you) and use some very simply behavior modification techniques that will teach him to play nice with others? This is a common problem with so many highly adoptable and loving dogs. Even though mouthing and jumping is a fairly simple behavior to correct, many dogs are simply killed in shelters because they were labeled as unfriendly and no one was willing to teach the dog what he should have learned when he was a puppy. Will you give Lucas at least one month and help him overcome a few bad behavior so he can be well placed in a terrific forever home. Doing so will literally make you his lifesaver. If you will help Lucas, please email [email protected] Subject: 'I'll be Lucas' Hero. Lucas is located in Bucks County PA area. Foster should live within an hour of New Hope, PA. Also we prefer a foster home without small dogs, cats and young children so Lucas can have your undivided attention. 'The greatness of a nation ... can be judged by the way its animals are treated.'
