About Link Basil

Adoption Fee: $200
Lab / Poodle
Age: Adult
Sex: Male

Name: Link Basil Sex: Male Spayed/Neutered: Yes Breed: Labrador Retriever / Poodle (unknown type) / Mixed (medium coat) Weight: 23 lbs Height: Estimated 14.5 in Estimated Birthdate: 5/25/2013 Fence Needed: No Location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Adoption Fee:$200 Reason for being in rescue: Link Basil was surrendered to CPR by his owners. Special Needs: None noted What kind of home would be best for me? Link needs a quiet home that is willing to understand him. On the plus side, because his mother was a poodle Link is a low shedder. He is not a highly active dog and would be fine for someone who is a homebody and likes to putter around the house. He has not shown us that he needs to run and leap and jump a lot. Link was previously adopted from CPR and returned for biting. Owner Experience Level 6: More than 10 years as a dog owner. Has worked with at least one behavior issues that did not require professional intervention. OR has worked with one serious medical issue that required professional care (diabetes, epilepsy, Cushing's, Addison's, etc) What is my personality like: Link arrived at the farm along with siblings due to no fault of his own. His caregivers say I probably haven't had much interaction with more than 2 people so he is nervous. Once he warms up to you he is okay with being petted. When walking on a leash Link is a little frantic as if he does not know where to go but will eventually get used to it. Link has no experience with children and we believe with their higher energy, he would not do well. He ignores the cat that is living in our office in a cat condo but has not been nose to nose with one. He is crate trained and he wants to please. While we've not been able to teach him any of the basics yet like sit, he is eager to please. He does love to have his back scratched and he's always up for a good treat or cookie given time. Link was previously adopted but returned due to biting. Since being back at the farm he can no longer go out with dogs because he does not get along with them. He needs an experienced home willing to learn his triggers and work through them. How do I act when I first meet new people: Timid. Link will bark at strangers. Tips and Tidbits: Link needs a very experienced owner in a home where he will be the only dog. House trained: Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule.
