About Bailey-PENDING!

Bailey could be that dream come true pup for retirees who love spending their time with a cottony-soft and very smart companion. There's no question Bailey would also do well with gentle older kids 12+ who enjoy the fun that a sweet little dog brings to a family. We'd like only older children in Bailey's family not because he doesn't like young (and very gentle) kids...he really does. But because Bailey is only 12 lbs and about 4 years old, we want to make certain he's handled gently and respectfully. Bailey love playing (once he's comfortable) and is entertaining in his silly antics, positive energy and the love he wants to show to everyone he knows well. Bailey's story is all too common in his extremely close call to being euthanized in a scary Texas shelter....but who could ignore his adorable manner? Bailey can initially be somewhat fearful.. but give him just a moment (a belly rub and yummy treats are helpful) and he inches just a bit closer to a welcoming lap. Before you know it he's gently loving you with a soft kiss and a wag. The awesome Texas rescuers recognized all of this in Bailey and knew that there was a home out there that would love, respect and make this little guy a permanent member of their family. It's terribly sad to understand that these dogs were used as a means to an end. Their purpose was to create revenue through puppies and then be thrown away if inconvenient. Bailey was recognized for his gifts and the love he can bring to a committed family and was brought in for his vetting, neutering and a stay at a Texas foster home awaiting his transport to Denver. Bailey would do well with anyone who's invested in spending time with their pup. He's so pleasant and portable that he can be a part of any adventure....it can be a leisurely walk, a visit with friends, a car ride on vacation or just an afternoon spending time together plopped down on the couch - all of this would speak to Bailey's sweet temperament. We aren't open to a home where everyone spends their days working full-time outside of the home....we'd like Bailey to get more time and attention than is possible with that lifestyle. Bailey's potentially beautiful coat has been sadly ignored. He's a non-shedding guy who is considered to be great for most allergy sufferers...although we can never promise. Bailey therefore requires a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition (a daily salmon oil supplement is recommended for longevity as well as coat care) to keep his coat cottony-soft, very healthy and matt-free. We've requested that Bailey be neutered prior to his transport to Colorado. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to too many dogs and not enough vets in this industrial area of Texas. If it doesn't, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Bailey's neuter and microchip if one of our rescue vets is used.
