About Lance

Adoption Fee: $250.00
Boxer / American Bulldog
Age: Puppy
Sex: Male

Lance is an active happy one year old boy who is able to walk several miles a day, run, jump, and do pretty much everything a normal dog will do. Lance is sixty pounds of pure puppy joy. He is a gentle and loving dog with amazing blue/gold eyes. He loves people and adores snuggling with his people. Lance has an amazing can-do personality and playful nature. Lance was found injured on the streets of San Antonio in April 2017. He was given a bed, and some time to recover. After a few weeks, Lance was listed for Euthanasia. Lance was was unable to sit or stand. He could not use his front legs well enough to be put in a regular wheelchair. At first, nothing could really be found to pinpoint his injury, so he was started on gentle physical therapy and then swim therapy. He was given good food, lots of loving care, and started to use an all supportive wheelchair. About two months after his rescue, Lance started to stand up and later he began to walk. Lance came to Michigan July 2017. He captured the hearts of his transporters with his stunning eyes and vivacious personality. One volunteer asked to transport him the rest of the way to Michigan to his home, she was so taken with him. Lance began to run and jump in his new home. He was improving at a tremendous rate. After further vet assessment it was discovered he had dislocated a vertebra in his neck, just in front of his shoulders but that the area was stabilized and should not cause any issues in the future. Lance wears a gentle leader head collar that puts less stress on the neck area as a harness/collar could put too much pressure on the old injury site. Lance has feet that turn outward but although he looks a little different, he has no problems with mobility. Lance is eating a raw all natural diet, supplemented by premium dog food. He is on no special medications, but will need a patient and caring adopter to help him as his nerves continue to regenerate in his hindquarters. He is housetrained except for episodes of excitement that he sometimes cannot control. He likes to be clean and works hard to stay that way. With a little management he is pretty successful. Lance is now ready to look for his forever home, and in his current foster home has learned to walk on a leash, and he is also crate trained. Lance attended obedience training and knows many commands. He seems to want the company of other dogs, and likes to try to do whatever they do, so a laid back dog that knows the ropes would be an asset in his next home. Although Lance lived with a cat in his previous foster home, and has been around cats in his current home, he does show too much interest in them for us to recommend a home with indoor cats. Lance has played with older children briefly, but because we do not know his background Lance will be placed in a home with older dog-savvy children (10 and up). We are looking for a very special adoptive family for him that will be able to help him continue on his amazing journey. If you think that could be you - please send an inquiry today! Lance is fully vetted and microchipped.
