About Elmer

MEET ELMER! Elmer is a MINI XOLO however the breed is not an option on Rescue Me. Meet Elmer a 2 year old natural skin colored mini Xolo. He is a love bug! A bit shy at first but warms up quickly. He has been thriving with his foster and loving all the time and attention he never received. Elmer has lived his life as a breeder dog; never a pet. Meaning that he was only utilized for stud purposes when the females in the breeding program were in heat. Therefore he was never in a home and given the love, attention and care that every pet deserves. For these reasons Elmer is slightly shy to strangers and new environments. He is calm and quite by nature. He does not nip or bite just shy and needs extra attention to gain your trust. We are looking for a home that has the time and understanding to allow this boy to bloom and prosper. He really just wants to be loved and wanted for more than a breeding stud. Elmer entered into rescue when his breeder fell on financial hardship and was living in her car in the Arizona heat. We arranged for transport and were able to rescue Elmer and several other dogs and take them into our rescue. The breeder/owner bred for a smaller hairless. These dogs can range from 4.4 lbs to 44lbs. Elmer is in the 15 lbs range. Potential Adopters and all eligible inquiries must have owned or currently own a Xolo, Mexican Hairless, Chinese Crested or Peruvian Inca Orca due to their unique health & skin care requirements. Warm loofa scrubs, warm baths and coconut oil rub downs. Elmer is current on vaccines, dewormed, microchipped, 100% crate trained and neutered per our adoption requirements. We pre-screen via email so please tell us a little about your lifestyle, work schedule, how many adults, children or pets are in the household, area you live in, house or apartment, breed experience, etc.... We will happily place Elmer in a home with children and other small dogs no problem. We expect him to be an indoor dogs. He is now on a diet consisting of premium grain-free kibble and raw and have zero food allergies or skin issues. Elmer is a perfect little dog! Young dogs are a lot of work so please make sure you're ready for the responsibility, all are on board and that everyone in the household is ready for the long term commitment that training, grooming and exercise a dog like this requires.
