About Roxie

Adoption Fee: $0-
Black Mouth Cur mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Roxie is a sweet, loving dog who is almost two years old and 57 pounds. She has had a rough start in life. Her fosters found her on their way home from Asheville. Her puppy had been hit and killed right in front of them, and she was licking it in the road. She was living and sleeping deplorable conditions in an outdoor shed. The family had no car, therefore couldn't work, therefore no food. They eventually gave Roxie and her puppies up to PAWS. The fosters immediately brought her inside so she could get used to the comforts of a home. They often find her sleeping on their couch when they wake up in the morning. Her personality and behavior can best be described as a great mixture of playful, friendly, quiet, affectionate, and energetic. She is a wonderful dog with a great disposition who loves to give lots of kisses. Roxie gets along well with all her multi species, foster siblings. She's friendly towards and loves to play with the dogs, and is playful and friendly/curious with the cats. At her former home, they had a little girl, and Roxie loved her very much and played well with her. Roxie's a very active dog, but rarely, if ever, barks. She loves to ride in a car so she would make a great traveling companion. She sleeps and likes to take naps on a blanket in the foster's living room. She enjoys being brushed, and loves eating her chew toys. She is usually left alone 4-5 hours a day, except for one day when she's alone for 8 hours, but doesn't have any separation anxiety. Roxie can access the back deck which has a sunshade and fan to keep her cool, so she goes out there throughout the day with the other dogs. She has no special feeding needs so she's fed Pedigree Adult. Roxie is housebroken and can walk on a leash, but still pulls a little as this is her first experience with one. She's only been in a crate a couple of times, but wasn't fond of it. Roxie would do well with a first time or experienced owner who had no more than two pets. She will need plenty of opportunities to exercise, walk, run, or hike in a fenced-in yard or other appropriate environment. Once you meet her, you'll fall in love with her!
