Hi! My husband and I were driving through SW GA on Thursday evening around Early County and saw this pitt bull mix running along the highway. There were no houses anywhere in the vicinity -- just woods and fields. When I got out of the car, she immediately laid down and started baby-crawling over to me with her tail wagging. She seemed really happy that we stopped, so we took her. We are not able to keep her due to our lease & have limited time that she can be in our apartment - but we could not leave here stranded and starving in the middle of nowhere. She would not have lasted out there by herself. Additionally, she has shown repeated aggression towards our cats, which has been difficult to manage in such a small living space. (She has no problem with our own dog - unless food is around). I am reaching out to local rescues to see if any kind find room for her. We are happy to pay for her heartworm treatment and whatever else she may need (spay), but we don't think it's wise to drop her off at animal shelter in her current state. We took her to a vet in Apalachicola while we were visiting. I've attached a picture of the record. Medical: - 5 day treatment for hookworms - Heartworm positive. Currently on a month of antibiotics as a precurser to heartworm meds. - Antibiotic/steroid eyedrops for inflammation - Medicated bath for current skin irritation. No scabies. - Eardrops Temperament: - Extremely happy and sweet-natured - Loves attention and snuggling - Walks fairly well on a leash. - Gets along great with our Aussie. Likes to takes cues from him. - Shows some signs of food aggression towards other dogs (not people -- she will eat out of my hand) - Does not like cats. - Unsure if house trained.
