About Kally

Adoption Fee: $300
American Staffordshire Terrier mix
Age: Puppy
Sex: Female

Kally is 1 year and 5 months old Amercian Staffordshire Terrier who weighs around 40 pounds. She is crate- and house-trained. She has been great with every size dog and age at her foster home. She lived with cats while in a foster home in Houston and did well with them. She has been exposed to young and older children and has been nothing but sweet with them. She takes treats gently. She likes to play with squeaky toys and enjoys chewing on antlers or other chew toys/treats. Kally is recuperating from shattered bones to her leg from a shotgun wound. She is currently wearing fixator which is coming off on 8/14 after wearing it for 3 months to repair the bones. It is a success. Kally will be able to walk, run, jump and play just like any other dog. Kally is a cruelty case out of Houston. She had her ears cut off, her vocal cords ripped out with a coat hanger, and then to top it off, Kally was shot and left for dead. Here is her story / news clip that featured on Fox 26 Houston with Randy Wallace: http://www.fox26houston.com/news/animal-advocates-want-justice-for-abused-dog Kally walked around suffering from excruciating pain from the gunshot wound for a few weeks until she was picked up by animal control and brought to the Houston shelter. Kally sat and waited another week at the shelter when her time was up. That is when she was pointed out to Needful Souls Dog Rescue in Baltimore. Kally was a needful soul and we took her into our rescue. We busted her out and had her seen by a vet. She wore a splint for 6 weeks to no avail. The bones of her leg were shattered into so many pieces and amputation was the only choice. But we could not do it without exploring every option possible for Kally to keep her leg. She has suffered so much already. She was so young, and nothing we wanted more for Kally to run, jump, and play without pain again. After numerous consultations with orthopedic specialists, we found Dr. Burgess in Annapolis, MD who specializes in such cases. She underwent surgery and had an external fixator applied to force the bone to grow back together. The surgery was a success and Kally can walk using her leg again and she can have a normal life, running, walking, playing just like any other dog. Kally is ready for her own family who will love her and make her part of their daily activities. If you are interested in Kally, please send an email to: [email protected]
